An invitation-only memorial service for American singer and actress Whitney Houston was held on February 18, 2012, at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, six days after her death. The homegoing was preceded by a private wake at the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark. Houston was subsequently buried at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey, next to her father John Houston Jr.
